Tom Baker Quartet

Sorry to say that the snow has gotten the better of us, and all logical paths lead to cancelling tonight’s gig. Stay warm, and if you listen very hard, you can hear TBQ playing Deck the Halls ever so softly…

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.

Tom Baker Snow

All that snow got you down? Just a reminder that if you need a break from watching it snow, or from watching the TV people tell you about the snow, get yourself down to Egan’s on Saturday night, 7:00 for music and fun with TBQ.

Brian has been arranging carols for us all week, and we are really excited to share the music with you that we finished recording last weekend for our new CD.

Don’t let a little snow and cold keep you away! Come over to Ballard for some holiday tunes and cheer!!

Egan’s Ballard Jamhouse
1707 NW Market St in Ballard

Happy and Merry!!

Unfretted.com starts Google recovery

In what has been a week long bedside vigil with the pages of Unfretted, we have completely scoured the entire site, removing / tweaking content, and building an entirely new sitemap. While Google still does not reference our front page, a search on “Fretless Guitar” briefly brought up our Sitelinks page, and hours later dropped it again. Things are gradually improving. 23123 Unique visitors in the past 31 days, that’s about 60% of usual traffic, surprising what Google brings in.

Unfretted.com wiped from Google

Some time in September or October a hidden list of “dubious content” web site links were added to Unfretted’s main page by an anonymous hacker.

Not being visible to normal browsers we were unaware anything untoward had happened.

However web-crawlers like Googlebot can read this content, and as such we were suddenly perceived to be a fraudulent site, redirecting traffic to the seamier side of the web.

This resulted in Unfretted being completely wiped from Google, certainly any reference to the home page, though you may still find the odd link to the more innocent pages.

We have removed the bad content, and are now checking the other 200+ pages for similar incursions.

We have also sent Google a request for re-submission, along with a detailed explanation of what happened. Sadly it may be over two months before we can be removed from the blacklist, and then it could take quite some time before we regain the number one spot in searches for Fretless Guitar.

Massive Spam Attacks

Over the past week or so we had an anprecedented number of SPAM members joining the Forum and posting their wares; everything from some very nasty pictures your mother would not approve of, to medicinal supplies and back again.

Apologies to anyone who found one of these before we removed them and blocked the
IP address range the offensive material was sent from.

We have blocked off a good 10% of all internet addresses from the Forum, so if you find you cannot access the Forum, you are a true Civilian Casualty of the Unfretted SPAM wars!

A quick e-mail to Admin will get you back in.

We also pruned off about 100 inactive members, so if you suddenly find yourself a guest,
e-mail Admin and we will fast track you back to full membership.

The Forum board has now been upgraded to version 2.3.6 which should immediately stop the recent bout of attacks.

Best to all of you,

The Admin Team.
