OK, its a perfect ten, but then...
the World's not perfect, me neither.

Jahloon's Baritone Fretless
Converted from a Hamer Strat copy with a Warmoth Baritone neck the scale length is
730mm or 28 3/4 inches and using 12 gauge flatwounds the guitar tunes up naturally in C,
that's four semitones below normal C F Bb Eb G C. The Fernandes Sustainer has been fitted
as has a Roland Hex pickup for individual string modelling.
This guitar was used on track 6, part II of the Village of the Unfretted CD. - Jah
Gary Corcoran's Orange Bog Seat
This it's not really a conversion, it's a total self build, built
with reclaimed construction xmas tree timber, and old beech cutting
board for the neck and the not so famous part of the window for the
ally fret board.... the pickup is now an emg select and the bridge is
just something I found in the garage.
This 3/4 scale guitar was used on track 12, part 1 of the Village CD. - Gary
Jim's pink guitar
The Pink guitar was an old 70's strat copy in white made by "Mi"
whoever they are? It is owned by a friend of mine who plays for a band
called the Elephant Asylum- both guitarists use fretless guitars converted by myself.
The tremelo routing was filled with a block of oak and was then converted
with a cut down Tele bridge to through body stringing. The guitar
was refinished in Fiat Hot Pink with a black scratchplate with two EMG HZs and one pink knob.
The neck is maple inlaid with black celulose binding. - Jim
Kai Matthew's Yamaha RGX220
Yamaha RGX220 bought ultra-cheep (see Emre's maxim in quotations) on sale in
1988 at LaSalle Music in Boston (next to Berklee), defretted winter
1999 by luthier George Peacock of Peacock Music (guitar / stringed
instrument store) San Francisco. Varnish on the fingerboard is
beginning to show wear. Stock DiMarzios; has a nice humbucker-to-
single-coil push switch built into the tone control. Due at some
point to have nut lowered and bridge replaced. Heavy when
compared to my Parker or to a Vigier. I used this guitar on Track 9, CD 1 of the
Village of the Unfretted compilation. - Kai
Jim Kimsey's Fretless Super Buzzmaster!
I always loved the sound of electric fretless bass... so 25 years ago,
I pulled the frets out of the most unlikely guitar you can imagine, but it
had uncanny resonance. Subsequently, I had several modifications made to achieve the 'sound in my head.'
I had this idea that the electric sitar had a very sympathetic
timbre and ultimately found a luthier / tech in Chicago who said he could
do what I wanted... So, I have been playing my custom luthiered 'fretless
buzzmaster' since 1991. The lower 4 strings are fretless (w/ maple markers);
the top 2 are fretted w/ a buzz bridge (electric sitar style).
I maintained the floating style bridge because of the
exceptional resonance the guitar evidenced the
very day I yanked the frets!! - Jim
Michael ATONAL Vick's Original "Tele-C"
Here is Michael ATONAL Vick's Original "Tele-C" or "Old #8" as they say in the hills.
This is the first Guitar VVV unfretted back in 1995, and the neck has been re-done
numerous times by Vick. The Guitar itself is a cheap Korean Telecaster with
the Serial # VN306790 and is typically tuned D Flat / A Flat / D / G / B Flat / E
with a Capo about an inch in. "Tele-C" uses "noiseless" pickups and can be heard
on many Free on-line Audio and Video Files plus various CDs including the last
track on Village Of Unfretted part 2 in a little tune
Michael wrote called "VVVick My Neck"..............

Tellef Ogrim's Yamaha
Here is the Yamaha SG600 that I bought in 1981. It was my main guitar
for a year or so until I got a Fender Stratocaster.
The Yamaha sat unused in my basement until one day the urge
to modify things, made me remove the frets using a hammer,
a small and very thin screwdriver and a pair of small pincers.
The operation was much simpler that I thought, leaving only minor
scratches in the neck, while making the most expressive instrument I had ever played.

Christophe's fretless
I'm from the south of France, I've recorded a metal
album on the label Adipocere ("Aquilon, Intramedia"). I
don't use fretless guitar in the band, It's just for my
pleasure. Another electric fretless with metal board
will be soon ready.
This guitar has been first unfretted and then i've
glued a metal touch on the board. It has a good
substain. A 7th string has been added. - Christophe
Emre Meydan's VIC
There is a four part, step by step tutorial on Unfretting guitar, featuring this
very instrument, in Fretless Projects.
This guitar was used on track 6, part I of the Village of the Unfretted CD.
Justin Saragoza's Ibanez
This is my partially fretted guitar. I pulled the frets sometime in the 1980's
and played it completely fretless for a short while and decided to
partially refret it like you see now. I put it together this way
to get full chords in first position, some triads up the neck, and
fretless tones on the lower strings up the neck. It's a late 1970's
Takamine that's been like this for a couple of decades.
