It is not often that a guitar comes along that can be fretted and then converted to fretless in a few seconds, making it usable on stage, just as quick as swapping guitars. Fernando Perez has designed his Signature guitar to do just that. It is manufactured, or should I say hand crafted, by Jose de Prados Guitars. The method is a quick swap fingerboard and is demonstrated in the video below.
Fernando Perez – Quick Bio
Born in Ejea de los Caballeros, Zaragoza, Spain. At seven years he began music studies at the Conservatory of Zaragoza and Navarra, Spain. These were followed by L’Aula de Musica, Barcelona, Escuela de Musica Creativa, Madrid, Musicians Institute, Hollywood, USA, Maharaja S. M. Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Jaipur, India, Conservatoire de Musique d’Alexandrie, Egypt, Shanghai Music Conservatory in China and Labyrinth Music Center in Greece.
What makes him stand apart from many musicians is his grasp of many different styles, he has done this by learning directly from artists and their cultures, traveling to different places to experience the spirit of music. Living in such exotic places as Hawaii, Africa, China, South, Central and North America, Spain, India, Egypt, etc.
He has been the musical director of Escuela Arabe-Flamenco in Casa Arabe, Cordoba (Spain). And has published works about guitar and world music with Stefan Grossman Guitar Workshop, Universal, Mel Bay, Hal leonard from USA and Fingerpicking from Italy.
